Weyve: a case study by LAIN

A brand identity, a seven-slide presentation deck and a set of social media posts for Weyve, a wealth management brand: a wordmark whose first letters are one continuous line, a ribbon supergraphic made from the same line, deep plum, lilac and teal, and pills for the words that matter.

Weyve is a wealth management brand that wants money to feel like something that moves with a life instead of sitting in a plan. The brief was an identity, a presentation deck and a set of social posts: one line for a name, one ribbon that grows out of it, and a few soft colours that keep a serious subject warm.

A name that
starts as a line.

Wealth management is usually drawn as something fixed: a plan, a portfolio, a figure. Weyve's design says the opposite. The first letters of the name are one continuous line, written with a pen of a single weight, and that line comes back much larger behind everything the brand makes.

Around it the brand stays calm. A deep plum carries the seriousness, lilac and a soft lavender add warmth, one teal marks what is moving, and the photographs show people looking up and ahead rather than at charts.

Your wealth shouldn't stand still

One line,
drawn with a pen.

The name is one line of one weight, drawn with a pen. Here it is rebuilt from the real vector and written from left to right.

  1. An x-height, a baseline and a descender hold the letters. At the end of each line a circle shows the width of the pen.
  2. The w, the e's loop and its bowl, and the y are centre lines. The curves are loose and hand drawn, with few nodes.
  3. The pen is set once for the w and the e, once for the y, and the lines are drawn at that weight with square ends.
  4. The v and the closing e are filled shapes in the same ink. The pen runs along each of them inside its outline, so the name is written from the first stroke to the last.

Plum, lilac
and one teal.

Deep plum carries the type and the weight, a lavender gray sits behind panels, lilac warms the large grounds and a single teal marks what is moving. White does the rest. Everything is rounded, from the pills to the cards and the app icon.

Pages, cards

The palette and the typeface: a rounded geometric sans in two weights

The supergraphic: the w, enlarged and repeated down the page

The app icon: the we on a rounded square, on its grid

Wealth that
moves with you.

The brand's own words are about movement, so the line moves. Three loose pieces gather into the w and the e, the name is written beside them, and the camera flies into the w until it becomes the ribbon behind the slides. Move the pointer across it and it gives way.

Rigid, fragmented, disconnected: three straight pieces with gaps between them.

Life changes, markets shift, priorities evolve. The pieces gather and bend into one line.

The rest of the name is written beside it: a y with a tail, a v and an e.

Close up, the w is repeated down the screen and the line is the supergraphic: a ribbon wide enough to carry words, with the brand's pills riding along it.

A calm brand,
in use.

The identity keeps its few rules everywhere: a plum, lilac or white ground, one person looking up or ahead, the ribbon behind them and the words that matter set in pills. It reads as serious without being cold.

Pills as tags: growth, planning, progress, freedom, confidence, clarity, strategy, balance

A closing line, with the ribbon behind it

Seven slides,
one voice.

The deck argues one thing in seven steps: a more personal approach, complexity made considered, wealth that does not stand still, one view and one strategy, and wealth as more than a number. Each slide has one ground, one person and a few pills.

Wealth, designed to move with you

A more personal approach

Make complex decisions feel considered

Your wealth shouldn't stand still

One view, one strategy, more clarity

Wealth is more than a number

Your wealth should be ready to move with them

Posts, stories,
a profile.

The same system at phone size: three posts, three stories, a profile card and an app icon on a home screen. The ribbon crosses the stories, and the pills carry the one line of each post.

The social set at a glance

Three posts: clarity for what comes next, the name, and a strategy that moves with you

Three stories: portfolio growth, wealth is always moving, and a portrait on plum

A profile, and the app icon with its unread count
