Syntra: a case study by LAIN

A website, a brand identity, a pitch deck and social media for Syntra, an operations platform for AI agents: a black ground, one electric blue light rising from the foot of every screen, ice-white type, an interface drawn in glass and a seven-armed asterisk as the mark.

Syntra is an operations platform for AI agents: a place to build them, connect them to a team's tools, watch what they do and keep them accountable. The brief was a website, a brand, a pitch deck and a run of social posts that make something abstract feel governed rather than risky: a black room, one blue light, and the interface itself as the main character.

AI agents,
under control.

Companies are putting AI agents to work, and the work is scattered: agents in notebooks, chat threads and one-off scripts, with no single place that shows what they do or whether it went right. Syntra is that place. The design had to sell control rather than power, and it had to do it to people who are being sold power everywhere else.

So the system is quiet and dark. A black ground, one blue light that rises from the foot of every screen like a status lamp, ice-white type and an interface drawn in glass. The only colour that raises its voice is a red, and it is used for one thing: whatever fails.

The first screen of the website: the headline, the product behind a pane of glass, and the light underneath

One asterisk,
seven arms.

The mark is an asterisk made of bars of one width crossing at a single point, every end cut square. It reads as a spark and as a footnote at once, the small sign that says a result has been checked. Three bars cross in the middle and a fourth, only half as long, leans out to the upper right. The arm that would have been at the lower left is simply not there, and that gap is what keeps it from being a snowflake.

  1. A square, a circle through the corners of the arms, and the two centre lines the first bars lie on.
  2. Three bars of one width and length cross at the centre, and a fourth, half as long, reaches toward the upper right.
  3. Where they overlap they become a single outline of fourteen square ends and seven notches, nothing curved, a centre that is only a crossing.

Black, one blue,
one star.

Blue is used as light rather than paint: it never fills a shape, it glows from underneath one. Headlines are a plain light sans, small copy is a mono set in capitals, and the wordmark is the same sans in lowercase with the asterisk as a superscript. Red appears only on the failures the product exists to remove.

Where the light starts

The light at the foot of a screen

Where the light is brightest

Type, buttons

Only for what fails

The wordmark on the brand's own light: lowercase, one light sans, the asterisk set as a superscript

The letters on their guides: baseline, x-height and cap line, every curve pinned to a few points

One sans serif in a light and a regular weight, over four panes of glass

The mark as an app icon on black, and the same mark in a pane of glass held up to the light

Every failure
gets a job.

One section of the website says it plainly: every agent starts with a clear job. So this chapter lets the page's own words do the work. On one side lie the words the design uses for what goes wrong, in its alert red, each shaking where it lies. Scrolling draws every one through the tile with the asterisk and out the other side as the word it should have been.

The words for what goes wrong, each one somewhere else in the system and none of them owned.

Each is drawn into the tile and handed to an agent with a defined role, approved data and a clear owner.

What leaves is the word it should have been: success, stability, reliability, set in a grid anyone can read.

A quiet brand,
in loud places.

Away from the screen the system keeps the same few things: black, a wash of blue, the asterisk and a headline in capitals. It works as a portrait with a mark in a grid, as a wall of light in an empty hall and as a card with the four things the product does.

A wall of blue light in an empty hall: AI agents are powerful, Syntra makes them controllable

The mark in a square on a portrait, sitting on the grid that built it

A card for the command center, and the four things it does: command loop, workflow control, live monitoring, operation layer

Three small signs on concentric rings: a command key, a loop with a spark and a waveform

A page that is
a control room.

Three pages in one dark system. Home sets out the problem, agents scattered and performance unmeasured, and answers with one layer. The platform page walks from the dashboard to the agents, the job each one has and a workflow that runs. Contact is one form on glass beside three addresses, then the questions people ask first.

The command-center headline over a pane of glass, four plain facts, the problem in two cards, the solution as tools round the asterisk, three steps and a closing call.

The dashboard under a glow, the tools it connects to, three layers, one agent with its job, the operations view and a workflow that runs.

A short form beside three addresses, then the first questions in a row of accordions.

The glass,
one section at a time.

The same moves everywhere: a pill above a centred headline, copy in mono beneath it, a pane of glass with a blue underlight, one white or ghost button. These are the pieces, cut from the pages.

Four plain facts over a bar chart made of light: one layer, every action tracked, around the clock, four core jobs

The problem in two cards: tools that live apart, and a performance chart sliding down

The solution: tools in a carousel round the asterisk, four layers named above it

Three steps, each a pane of glass with a blue underlight and one small sign

Three layers on the left and the agents orbiting the asterisk on the right

Every agent starts with a clear job: failure words on one side, the tile in the middle, success words on the other

The operations view: counts, an orchestration map, recent activity and performance in one pane

A workflow that runs: a lead is captured, a follow-up is drafted, the team and the CRM are told

The questions people ask first, as a column of quiet accordions

Seven slides,
one argument.

The deck makes its case in order: agents are entering the workplace without an operating system, here is the layer that gives them one, here is how it works, why now, the model and the raise. Every slide is the website's glass on the same black and blue.

The title: the logo pill over the blue horizon

The problem: five gaps, from no central visibility to performance that is hard to measure

The answer: one platform between the agents and the tools

A command center for agentic workflows: five steps from a new lead to an updated CRM

The next layer: from models to assistants, agents and operations infrastructure

The model: three plans, and the go-to-market motion under them

The raise: four things the capital is for, stacked like layers

One message,
stacked on glass.

The posts keep the product on show: one line each, a pane of glass with the interface in it, and the asterisk as the avatar. Three tall posts that run on from one to the next, and three feed posts framed the way they appear on Instagram.

Three portrait posts: AI agents are entering the workplace, how Syntra works in three steps, and the call to book a demo

Three feed posts in their Instagram frames: the command center, from experiments to operations, and agents that get messy without control

Five covers.

The thumbnails for the shots, each one a different slice of the same black and blue.
